Battlefords Interval House Society Inc. is a community-based non-profit, registered charity which provides 24-hour safe temporary shelter and support for women and their children who are leaving circumstances of violence and abuse. We are a 15-bed shelter with 6 separate rooms.
We have been effectively serving the Battlefords and surrounding communities since 1980. Since then, we have evolved significantly, providing more than just a women’s shelter. Today we offer support, resources, and referral services focused on safety, healing, and stability for women and their children.
The shelter operates like a house – everyone assists in preparation of meals and in keeping the house clean and safe for all. Each woman, or a woman and her children, has their own bedroom. The kitchen, living room, bathrooms, and play area are common areas for everyone to share.
We are always looking to grow our volunteer board of directors. We have a great group of community-minded
women with many skills and connections. Board members meet with our Executive Director about 10-12 times a
year. Together we set the policy and direction of Battlefords Interval House.
Board involvement can vary based on interest and capacity, including meeting participation and committee
work. If you are interested in learning more about governance opportunities, please email
